My Webheads in Action 12-year connection has shown me things I'd never thought about or dreamed possible. It had never crossed my mind that I could connect and bond so closely online with colleagues in so many different parts of the world. But it happened. And to a great extent because we met online on a weekly basis. Also true is the fact that we carried out joint projects and collaborated in online presentations. Those were very active and productive days...
The Radical English group came about in Nov. 2012. For a little over a year we met once a month in Skype. Last March we started meeting every week and I feel that it made a big difference. There's no doubt in my mind that it was then that we started bonding in a much closer way. And that's why, when I met Radicalers Peggy and Rita f2f for the first time at Barcelona Saints Station a week ago and hugged warmly, we all felt we'd known one another and been friends for a long time. Judy and Jennifer were already "old" friends, because we'd met in person a year and a half before at Jennifer's in Albi.
All this to say that in the online world meeting regularly contributes a lot to bonding strongly and making close friendships at different levels: personally, socially and professionally.
There's nothing like getting together online on a weekly basis. Those who can show up, do, and then one of us will send out a summary of what went on. It's a fabulous way to get to know one another better, brainstorm ideas, discuss things, collaborate in real time in documents that help us sort out ideas and plans, help one another at different levels and... socialize. Yes, socializing is key to bonding.
Needless to say, our Friendship came out much stronger after three days together at Jennifer's, the perfect hostess, together with her sons. Thank you, Jen! :-)
